Learn & Discover
The Wildlife Spirit offers a variety of activities and can be tailored to fit the hours available in your day. From a full-day elephant immersion including a game drive and afternoon elephant education session, to discovering the elephant dung paper making facility, visiting our lush garden enjoying the view or scouting the local arts & crafts.
Our Activities
Elephant Tours
09:00 AM – 4.30 PM
Immerse in a day focused on elephants; learning about them and visiting them in the wild. The day will start with a game-drive in a nearby reserve or park. You will be accompanied by one of our specially trained guides who focus on tracking elephants in the area. You will surely encounter many other animals along the journey, so it is recommended that you to bring binoculars as well as cameras. Please also take warm clothing, sunscreen and a hat with you.
Back at The Wildlife Spirit, you will gather in the education area for a session on the physical features of elephants, their intelligence, social systems, current threats and much more. We will end the day with refreshments on our platform offering a breath-taking view onto Lake Jozini.
During the day you will have plenty of time to discover our botanical garden, stop by the dung-paper making facility and purchase some local arts & crafts from the nearby market stalls.
Please note that no children under the age of six are permitted on the game drives, unless a private vehicle is booked.Â
Elephant Education
2:30 PM – 4.30 PM
Engage in an educational session focussed on elephants. You will learn about their physical features, social systems, their importance in the ecosystem, current threats they are facing and much more. We will end the session with refreshments on our platform offering a breath-taking view onto Lake Jozini. During the day you will have plenty of time to discover our botanical garden, stop by the dung-paper making facility and purchase some local arts & crafts from the nearby market stalls.
Botanical Garden Visit
09:00 AM – 5.00 PM
Discover the garden and its many indigenous plants. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy the view overlooking Lake Jozini from the various look-outs, stop by the dung-paper making facility and purchase local arts & crafts from the nearby market stalls.
Dung Paper Making
09:00 AM – 5.00 PM
Join a session at the eco-friendly naturally built dung-paper making site that introduces and explains the steps involved in making paper products from elephant dung fibres.
Beautiful products are avialble to purchase as gifts and souveniers.
